How to get started/involved in Acting
– with Oz Malik
Oz Malik is an actor, artist and program curator. His practise adopts ideas & inspiration from Sufi mysticism, ancient wisdom and the decolonial. As a person of colour, Oz Malik hopes to be involved in the process of portraying positive & honest representation of multicultural communities in the current media and film landscape.
Oz, being our only performance artist in the group, talks about the steps that aspiring actors/actresses can take in order to get their foot in the industry and possibly land their first role.
Get to know Oz Malik
Born in Melbourne, Australia of South Asian heritage, Oz Malik grew up in the south east suburbs of Melbourne and
practises his craft on Bunurong and the Wurundjeri land.
As the child of an artist, Oz’s mother promoted and celebrated art in their home. This inspiration drawn from his mother’s art practise is what motivates him to share art/acting
with others.
Oz Malik explains that acting is a great way to build confidence, imagination, creativity and community. And, his acting experience throughout the years in the industry can help guide you to this place of creativity and entertainment.
